CEO Connect – July 2021

By July 1, 2021 No Comments

Dear TengoInternet Customer,

Summer is in full swing! We wish you a fully occupied Canadian and US Independence Day, celebrating the independence and freedom which allows our industry and nations to thrive.

A FEW THINGS

Industry Trends. From KOA and RMS reports, seeing increased or full occupancy, new campers entering the market with higher expectations (everything needs to be “better”), which continues to be premium internet connectivity. The RVIA said 22% of new RV buyers cited the ability to work remotely and 17% cited the ability to take online classes. So make your WiFi streaming friendly and clearly communicate expectations.

Property Staff Shortages. During a recent trip to the West Coast, property staff shorages were acute – ranging from 60%-80% of full staffing. This has put additional pressure on managing operations with full occupancy.

Cutting The Cord Accelerating.

  • In 2021, only 56% of Americans watch satellite or cable TV. (Pew Research)
  • All CableTV has 85 million subscribers. Netflix alone has 215 million. Disney+ has 54 million subscribers in 6 months. (Statista)
  • Nearly all Americans ages 25-34 access TV through the internet (Pew Research)

Tengo Hiring. We are seeing much higher guest usage and expectations, coupled with the property staffing shortages. To meet this, we have brought on a new cohort of support and field services employees to better serve the influx of guests needing assistance, make faster onsite repairs and in general being “better”.

We Are Ready to Serve This Independence Day Week. During this holiday week, our team is here for you. To ensure your WiFi network experience is excellent, we want to remind you that we are here to assist you with your guests and with your network.

We are grateful to be serving you and our industry – let’s keep connecting! I’ll be on the road in July through Colorado, Wyoming, Utah (I had to book my reservations in March!).

God bless you, your families and your work.

Sincerely,

Eric Stumberg
CEO of TengoInternet
