Best Practices for WiFi Guest Plans

By March 25, 2021 No Comments

With the increase in premium internet usage, many properties are evaluating their guest WiFi offerings. Here are a few best practices when it comes to the kind of WiFi plan you offer your guests.

  1. Premium Internet Plans. This is recommended for properties who are able to provide streaming speeds of at least 5Mbps x 1Mbps per device or higher. At 5Mbps, guests should be able to comfortably stream Netflix, Hulu and YouTube. Guests have shown that they are willing to pay for premium WiFi service in order to stream.
  2. Freemium Offerings. This solution works well for properties that want to provide a free basic speed to allow guests to check email and browse websites, and then offer a premium higher speed plan for guests who want to stream. This is also recommended only for properties that are able to provide streaming speeds of at least 5Mbps per device or higher for their premium plans.
  3. Guest Login. There are many ways to login, from Click-to-Connect to unique passwords. Click-to-Connect works best for properties who want to make it as easy as possible for guests to connect, as it simply requires the click of a button and doesn’t need any additional steps such as putting in a password or creating a login account.
